National Flood Insurance Program
On June 16, 2008, a Local Law was adopted by the Village of East Williston and approved by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency).
By doing this, East Williston homeowners are now able to purchase flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program.
Homeowners insurance generally covers fire and wind damage, not flooding. Flood insurance is underwritten by the federal government and is available online in communities that participate in the program.
