Household Waste
- Rear Yard Pickup: includes kitchen and food waste, waste paper, small cartons, non-recyclable boxes, rags and the like.
- Pickup days are:
- North section: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- South section and Wheatley Ridge Area: Tuesday, Thursday Saturday
Yard Waste
- Curb Side Pickup:includes grass clippings, leaves, lawn rakings, hedge trimmings, vines, flower, vegetable and garden wastes, tree branches (must be cut into four foot lengths and tied into bundles).
- The use of clear plastic bags is suggested, so that yard waste can be seen. If black bags are used they must be marked with a fluorescent sticker, which are available at the Village Office (M-F 9am -4:30pm) free of charge. Sanitation employees may open black bags to ensure that no household waste is mixed with yard waste. The Town of North Hempstead Solid Waste Management Authority mandates that all yard waste must be separated from household waste or fines will be issued.
- Yard waste pickup for the entire Village is
- Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday (April 1st – Dec 15th)
- Wednesdays only (Jan. through March)

Recyclables
- Rear Yard Pickup: Recyclables include newspapers, corrugated cardboard, plastic containers, food beverage cans, clean aluminum foil and pans, all clear or colored glass containers. Note: Rinse all residue from containers before placing in recycling bin. A copy of what can and cannot be recycled follows.
- Recyclable pickup days are:
- North section: Wednesdays
- South section and Wheatley Ridge Area: Thursdays.
Holidays (no pickup)
- New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's Birthday, Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Large or Bulk Items: such as refrigerators, stoves, large furniture, rugs, luggage, residents must contact Meadow Carting Corp. directly to arrange for a special pickup.
Pursuant to the Village Code, debris cans and receptacles are not to be placed at the curb before dusk the night before a scheduled pickup, and must be removed from the curb by the evening of the pickup.
Please note that the sanitation contractor cannot take materials such as TVs, batteries, electronic waste, compact fluorescent bulbs, paint cans, books, residentially generated construction or demolition debris. You must contact the Town of North Hempstead at 311 to inquire when a S.T.O.P. or E-CYLCE event is being held or go to the residential drop off site at 999 West Shore Road, Roslyn on Sundays between 7:30am and 3:30pm.
